Full Life of God
I hope you had a wonderful Easter with friends and family. The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our faith as believers. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:14 "if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith." What Jesus did on the cross changed everything. He became sin who knew no sin, He died so we could live without any fear or condemnation. By faith in Jesus we are righteous! All the promises of God are "yes" in Christ and "Amen!" (2 Corinthians 1:20)
This month, I'll be hosting my next session on our Spiritual Makeup ~ Spirit, Soul and Body. God has been so gracious over the past few weeks by reminding me of our "fullness" as believers. If you are like me sometimes we can "feel" empty, but I've learned to quickly remind myself it's just a feeling. The truth is as believers in Christ, we have all the fullness of the deity in our spirit!! This means everything that Jesus is, in his nature, his character and traits we have it all our born again spirit. 1 John 4:17 (NIV) tells us "This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus." Colossians 2:9-10 tells us "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness." Can you wrap your head around the fact that we have the fullness of the Deity in our spirit?
It almost to much to fathom. It makes me think of the powerful quote from Benjamin (Ben) Parker, you may know him better as Peter Parker's Uncle from Marvel Comic's Spiderman, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" Maybe this is the first time you've really thought about the fullness of Christ in you. I pray that we will seek the Holy Spirit for a greater understanding of the fullness we possess as believers and then take this knowledge and share it.
Not feeling full of God?
It's not God, it us. Chances are it's the things of this world robbing us of our peace. All it takes is some bad news, a bad day or an anxious thought to loose our peace. If you are feeling empty or stressed take inventory of your intake. Log or journal what you are allowing into your life:
What are the dominant thoughts stealing your peace?
Are you spending time with the Lord? Worship, prayer, devotional
What about your daily food, exercise and sleep intake?
Are the people around you helping or hurting your time with the Lord?
After completing an inventory of your intake, share your feelings and findings to the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you are already full of God and reveal areas how you can improve your relationship with the Lord so we experience God and all his fullness. I pray that the Lord will lavish his love for you in tangible and undeniable ways.
Knowing God's love for you will help you understand that you have the full measure of God in your born again spirit. If you feel empty, discouraged, fearful or sad open up your bible and read what God has to say you about your current situation. He loves you so much! Start by saying I trust his unfailing love for me!
