If it's not good, it's not over!
Do you have relationships that might not be as good as you had hoped for? Do you have dreams that are still unrealized or maybe your work or business isn't as fruitful, despite all your hard work and effort. What Paul penned in Romans 8:28 might just be the shot in the arm you and I need to meditate on. The amplified version of Romans 8:28 tells us "we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes ALL (my emphasis) things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose."
Let's break this one scripture down into powerful bullets of truth:
God wants us to know that He causes all things to work together for good
He wants what is best for those who love Him
God will working things out according to His plan and purpose for us
Sometimes we face things in life that are tragic, disappointing and hurtful. I don't know about you, but years ago before I learned the true nature of God. I found myself blaming God for allowing certain things into my life. It's easy to blame God for everything that happens to us. Sin, strife, wickedness, selfishness can bring all kinds of destruction into our lives. God is not the author of our problems. God is love and he's a good Father. We're warned in James 3:16 "For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." Some of the trials and issues we deal with come from other people's disobedience or sin. Life has it's challenges, but God wants us to rise above the trials that we face in this fallen world.
John 10:10 tells us that the enemy comes to kill steal and destroy, but Jesus came to give us a full and abundant life. Loving people when life gets messy is right where Jesus wants to come in and help us. It's so easy to focus on our problems instead of God's promises. The next time a trial arises...and it will; before you react, take time to breathe, pray and think about the best response. Only take action if necessary and do it in love as if Jesus is standing right beside you.
Just last week, I heard a powerful truth by Priscilla Shirer that is worth repeating. "Turn your eyes to Jesus ~ We don't look at the circumstances, We look up." Within the hour of hearing that powerful truth, a woman at my lunch table shared this photo of the view from her 93 year old Uncle's home in Rio De Janeiro. Coincidence? Not in my book. I think it was a God-incidence.
I think Jesus is telling me to "Look Up!" How about you? Are you focusing on the problem or the promises of God? Look up my friend, your comforter, the Holy Spirit is with you right now to help you in every situation. Paul tells his supporters in Philippians 1:6 "He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it." That same promise is for you and me and that's some great news, because if it's not good, it's not over.
God is with you right now.
Pursue what He's calling you to do.
He will work it all out for our good. That's a promise.
