What is going on?

Have you had that thought lately? I sure have. There is so much turmoil, struggles, political tension, riots, largest storms in history, kneel verses stand and then we witness the largest mass killing in US history. Good grief, what is going on? All I can tell you is this world needs Jesus. 

Jesus told his disciples do not freak out. Ok, Jesus didn't say do not freak out. He said in John 14:1-4 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”  Jesus is coming back my friend and he's going to take us to be with him.  That's some comforting news in these turbulent times. 

Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3  "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people...verse 13 tells us while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse,deceiving and being deceived." The good news is God promises to rescue us from it all just like he rescued Paul. 

As our world grows darker, be of good courage. God has an important plan for his people.  Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:9  "you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." It's our job to point people to Jesus. We need to share the love of Jesus to this dark and hurting world.

Did you catch this in 2 Timothy 3 "having a form of godliness but denying its power"? You and I have the power that raised Jesus from the dead in our spirits.  I don't know about you but I'm ready to start using my God given power and authority to set the captives free, lay hands on the sick and see them recover.  Jesus tells his disciples in John 14:12 and this is for us today "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."  Come on it's time to do greater things!  How about we start with loving one another even if we have different opinions. One final thought, remember you and I can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Christ has given us the ability to love others in all circumstances.  Love is the answer and His name is Jesus. Let's show this world the love of Jesus everywhere we go.
